Postcards from Paris

Two things brought me to Paris: Aldous Huxley’s mention of the Sainte-Chapelle and S, especially S.

I packed light: a few warm clothes, my Canon, a plastic point-and-shoot, and several rolls of film.

We wandered the city as we wandered our psyches. The Canon captured “postcards”: light on the Seine, silhouettes of the city. The Show camera caught fleeting details: a street corner, stained glass, a mood.

Most of the photos are in black and white, fitting, I like to think, for how timeless and familiar Paris felt. Or maybe it was because of S.
